The biggest difference between a putty knife and a shovel is the material. The blade of a putty knife is made of stainless steel. Because steel has a high density, high hardness, is not easy to deform, and has rust-proof properties, the blade of a putty knife is mostly made of stainless steel; while the blade of a shovel is made of iron. Because the density of iron is low, the shovel is relatively light, but at the same time, the hardness and strength of the shovel are not as good as stainless steel.
1. Material difference

2. Shape difference
The putty knife and the shovel are also different in shape. Putty knives are often flat and round, with a short blade, generally not exceeding 25cm, and are mainly used for smoothing and kneading during construction; while shovels are long strips with a long blade, some of which can reach 1m long. They are mainly used for excavating earth or removing obstacles during construction, and are suitable for scenes that require a longer blade.
3. Usage difference
The biggest difference between a putty knife and a shovel is their different uses. Putty knives are mainly used to evenly apply the mixture on masonry walls, floors and other surfaces to make them flat and smooth, while iron shovels are mainly used for excavation and shoveling during construction. Iron shovels are suitable for scenes where excess mortar, cement and other materials need to be removed from reinforced concrete surfaces or when laying floor tiles, while putty knives are suitable for scenes where the mortar needs to be smoothed and kneaded during construction.
In summary, although putty knives and iron shovels are both very common knives in construction tools, they have different uses when used. From the perspective of material, shape, and use, the difference between the two knives is very obvious.
